"Oar Feet in Space" & "Colonials in Space"
The photograph above is of the final two works of my "In Space" series. The image on the left is entitled "Oar Feet in Space" and on the right, "Colonials in Space." As with all in this series, I have used Haeckel's illustrations as a base; in addition, I've used images from NASA and other stock photography. Software used is Adobe Creative Cloud and Topaz.

The convergence of Dr. Martin Luther King's Day and the second inagaration of President Barack Obama is appropriate. The symbolism is rich in both American theology and myth. I celebrate this day for me, my familly, my goddaughter, my friends and my fellow Americans. As a nation, we, slowly, yet, surely, move toward a greater, more and more inclusive nation. I'm so proud and thankful to be an American today.
Psychedelic Jesus
Today I finished the latest in my series of "psychedelics," entitled, "Psychedelic Jesus." The base of the collage is an image by the French painter, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, "Christ." Other elements include DNA and molecular images, the "big bang" and the universe, which for me tie together the concepts of power and creation. Other images were from public domain, NASA and stock photography.
This was the view of this new year's sunrise this morning over the Pithlachascotee River in New Port Richey, Florida. The image was taken with my IPhone and processed with Snapseed.

We came across this on a visit to Eagle Point Park in Pasco County, Florida the day after Thanksgiving. It appear that a local critter (probably a racoon) had a tasty meal the day before of a horseshoe crab. The image was taken in the midday sun, which is not the best time of the day for captures; however I like contrast and sharp shadows of the image.

In times of budget cuts and talks of falling of very high cliffs, we are quick to forget about our future, their future. Giving children a good start in life is an overwhelming and undebatable great investment of our nation's resources.

A day off is a day to do art. This is my final from today. i call it the, "Psychedelic Chef." All great chefs are focused and perhaps a bit....?

"Fish in Space" is somewhat of a juxtaposition; however, I have always been facinated with the creatures in the hidden worlds of our oceans and how much these creatures resemble those from the imagination of science fiction writers. Is seems possible, that if we met creatures from outer space, they might just look like this!

Yesterday was Veteran's Day in America: a day that we remember our Veteran's who sacrificed for us all. My work above is a tribute to all the brave men and women who gave and continue to give to us all. In times of need and threat we ask so much; it seems so often all the sacrifice is forgotten in times of plenty and peace. We need to be reminded to remember and thank them all.

I spent some time at Youth and Family Alternative's "Run for New Beginnigns" this morning. The event raises both money and awareness for the area's only youth crisis and runaway shelter (for Hernando, Citrus and Sumter Counties). The photograph above is of one determined runner whose mother (left) proudly watches her cross the finish line. The reason I chose this as my photograph to represent the event is, it conceptualizes the importance of family and having someone who believes in you, chearing you on....
