Gasparilla 2009

Gasparilla 2010 is upon us.  Last year was a blast for me: I was learning the ways of the camera and this was one of the first events that I took interesting photographs (at least for me!).  Since that time, I've learned more about Photoshop and all the wonderful tools that the digital photographer has today.  Click here or on the photograph above to see my gallery of photographs.  Feel free to use for your personal use. Enjoy! Nathan

Dunedin, Florida

The cold weather has temporarily left us Floridians and the weather has been back to "normal," which is normally six months of spring-like weather.

Dunedin is a wonderful place to visit and a fun place to bring your camera.  You can check out more information on several websites that feature this fine place by clicking here, here and here.

I experimented yesterday with camera speed: on a few occasions I slowed down the shutter speed to deliberately blur images (ironically, Dunedin has a bar called, Blur; click here to see their colorful website) and I posted two of them in my gallery.

A short walk from the downtown area will take you to the Dunedin Fish Market (watch out SF!) and, of course, the beautiful bay from which you can see Caladesi Island, the best beach in the world.

By clicking on the image above or this link, you will be directed to full sized versions of my photographs of Dunedin. Enjoy! Nathan

Clearwater Beach, December 26, 2009

The day after Christmas this year was cold:  North wind, temperature in the 60's, cloudy, no sunshine. Nevertheless, the clouds provided opportunity for good photography, without the usual glare of the direct Florida sunlight.  Click on the above photograph or this link to see several of my pictures from the day at the beach.

Enjoy, Nathan

Merry Christmas!

I took this photograph at Heritage Village (see below) earlier this month.  It shows what a Florida home might have looked like at Christmas 100 years ago. Click here or on the photograph to see a higher resolution.

Merry Christmas to all!

Photographs

Life is quite busy of late.  Above will take you to several photographs that were taken at Lakeland, Florida's Mainsail Art Fair this year.  It was very relaxing working on them in Photoshop today. Enjoy! Nathan

Swim in Blue

Life is busy at the moment.  This photograph was taken last weekend (see my  tweet) at a local park.  Click here to see it.  Enjoy! Nathan

Mount Mitchell State Park

Yesterday, we had a great time traveling to and enjoying Mount Mitchell State Park.  Mount Mitchell is the highest point east of the Mississippi and although the leaves had fallen as a result of a recent snow, the view was spectacular.  If you are ever in the Asheville area, a trip to this mountain is highly recommended.  You may see more of my photographs by clicking here or on the image above. Enjoy! Nathan

Asheville, Dusk, October 21, 2009

Asheville's dusk last night was rich in blues and yellows.  Click here or on the photograph above to see a few of these.  Only minor processing in Lightroom was used.  Enjoy! Nathan

Weaverville

What a great time in Weaverville: perfect weather, friendly residents, and good food. We ate a wonderful lunch at the Well Bread Bakery (highly recommend) and afterward took photographs and visited art galleries. If you are ever in the Asheville area, you should plan a trip to this charming town. Click here or on the ghost above to see the rest of my photographs. Enjoy, Nathan

A School of Segways

This photograph was taken 4 or 5 years ago in Utah.  The family, obviously having a great time together as they viewed the sights by means of the infamous Segway.  This photograph was enhanced through Photoshop and Nik Software's Color Efex Pro.  Click here for a better view of both photographs. Enjoy, Nathan.

A Walk in the Park

I spent some time yesterday morning in John Chestnut Park, one of my favorite spots in the Tampa Bay area. The first of these two photographs is a capture within the park (my favorite spot is on the edge of the park and near Lake Tarpon) and the second, of the clouds, is a view of Lake Tarpon.  Clouds in the Tampa Bay area in summer are spectacular; our record highs this past week has extended their presence among us (yes, and extended hot, muggy summertime air).  I used Lightroom, Photoshop and Nik Software's Silver Effects Pro on both images.  You can get a better view of both by clicking here or on either photograph. Enjoy! Nathan

Scary Sculley's

The photographs above are "before" and "after" images taken from the weekend trip to John's Pass, Florida (see previous entry for more photographs).  The original, raw, was adjusted in Lightroom (got the blown out highlights under control), then on to Photoshop, where I created a duplicate layer that was transformed in Topaz Adjust (I believe I used "Spice-ify").  From there I blended the layers with the "difference" setting, which resulted in an image that may put one in the mood for our Halloween season.  Click here or on either image to see a better resolution.  Enjoy! Nathan.

Target Buddha

This is one of my first shots from my new Canon 7D.  Click on the image or here to see the before and after. I used Lightroom, Photoshop & Nik Software's Silver Effects and OnOne Frames in post production. I might still like the original better. Enjoy! Nathan

Gracie, Before & After

This photograph of Gracie the Cat was taken a couple of weekends ago.  Gracie is an outdoor/indoor cat who belongs to a couple of major animal lovers.  The first image is from camera raw; the second is the result of a bit of tweaking in Photoshop. You can see a higher resolution of these images by clicking here.  Enjoy! Nathan
