Read MoreAbove is my latest work entitled, "The Passing of Secrets." All religions share common truths which trandsend dogma and have survived the ages. These secrets are passed and never forgotten.
The idea of a flying hippopotomus has been floating in my mind for a while and my latestest work is the result. I had such fun working on this during Thanksgiving holidays. I hope you enjoy it as well.
New Orleans is on of America's greatest cities. The city's recovery after Hurricane Katrina is a testimant to its endurance over tremendous obsticals. My most recent work above was inspired by a friend who not only frequents the city for relaxation and fun but has a love for the Big Easy. Images are from public domain and stock photography
The above is one of three from my series: "Aliens Among Us." The base of each work consists of an image captured by my grandfather and each "alien" has in common the wings of a dragonfly. In addition, moth wings are used in two of othe works.
We all encounter "aliens" each day: that is anyone who does not fit in or society believes is an outsider (that is, an alien). For most of us artistic ones, we identify more closely with the aliens.
You may see all three works by clicking here.
If you have any questions or want to purchase any of my works, please feel free to contact me.

Earlier this week I was interviewed by the delightful and talented author, Lichen Craig. We talked about Southern Gothic, the blending of layers and the call for all Artists to Create and overcome Resistance. You can hear my interview and see my works that we discussed by clicking here.
Today is the launch of New Lit Salon Press', "Southern Gothic: New Tales of the South." The above picture is a copy of the printed version, which is available through Blurb, and you should be able to download it from IBooks and Google Play (Kindle and Nook should be available soon).
My works that were created for each of the stories and poems for this publication are now posted on my website and you may see them by clicking here or on the image above. If you want to purchase a print, I offer two different ways of doing so (click here to see).
Congratulations to Jourdan M. Scoggins and Brian Centrone: you have created a truly wonderful publication!

Above is my latest work, entitled, "Nike, Descending Stairs." The background of this work includes multiple shots that I recently took of a stairwell from an old building in North Carolina. The textures in the image are from an aged wall that had layers of paint showing through that I photographed on the same trip. The body is a statue of Nike with a new stock photography head. Graphical elements are from an old mechanical reference book. Blended into the image is a famous Muybridge photograph of an athlete "ascending stairs." I included this because, for me, it makes a connection to our contemporary, iconic, Nike.
Today, New Lit Salon Press shared the link for those who want to purchase a print version of their wonderful, "Southern Gothic: New Tales of the South" before the October 15th release date. Below is a video of Jordan Scoggins, the creative director for NLSP, unwrapping the first print version of the work.

We spent the day in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC. One of the many highlights (too many to mention) included this wonderful puppy, named after John Singer Sargent and you can find him if you visit S'zanne Reynolds' studio. This wonderful one is a Cardigan Welsh Gorgi. We also had a most wonderful at Barbara Fisher's studio. Asheville is a magnet for many wonderful artist in Western North Carolina and these two are just a sample. Highly recommend a visit.
"Wanting to fly" is composed of NASA images, stock photography, diagrams from old math books and birds in flight, the latter which I photographed yesterday. Those of us who grew up watching the Apollo program in the 1960's, today appreciate the impact it had on our own childhood dreams of flight and space exploration.
My latest work is entitled, "Birth Mother." it is composed of stock photography and NASA images and pays respect to the creative powers of women.
Above is my latest work entitled, "drowning man." It is composed of an artist's sketch, stock photography with Photoshop.
Although this image is a repeat, I printed this special one out today for my parents. New Lit Salon Press' Southern Gothic is to be released around October 15, 2013. Stay tuned!
I've spent this past summer on my artwork for the upcoming, "Southern Gothic: New Voices from the South" from New Lit Salon Press. For me it was an invaluable experience working with NLSP and I think the book will be something that those who enjoy the interplay of visual and written art will want to purchase and enjoy. The publication is scheduled for a mid October release and I will certainly post here when it is availble.
The above is my latest work entitled, "Mothman Dreams," based on the West Virginia myth of the mothman.
The King family "owns" the greatest speech in the 20th Century of American history. This gem, this treasure of American history should not be copyrighted: it is just not right. Period.
