Father's Day

Of All, I had the best.

I wish all a very happy Father's Day

Happy Yoga Day, 2015

The above work is a personal, concept piece I created in 2012 for an imagined yoga studio, called "Facing Dog Yoga."  As always, I truly enjoyed the process of creating this piece; and loved the fact that dogs are very good at yoga!

Today is the first international, "Yoga Day" as declaried last December by the United Nations. Yoga, truly,  deserves this day.  For those who practice it you know already it does not need such a day to affirm value!

Happy Yoga Day to all!

Mulier, Creator

The role of Women in every myth, theology or culture impacts the dynamics of their relationships, laws that address their lives and bodies and the space to be themselves, whether that be religious, artistic or individualistic expression.

The fact that Women posess the power to created human life is undeniable.  Dynamics, laws and theologies are often effective in keeping Women “in their place.”  However, the true power of Women trandsends.

In these three works, I celebrate Woman, Creator.

Artists' Challenge, Day Five, Best Sellers

Today is day five of the challenge which brings it to an end.

I've chosen to share some of my best sellers over the past couple of years.  These works resonate with many.  I'm thankful not only for those who encourage, but purchase my works.  As an Artist, there is great satisfaction in knowing (and often seeing) my work in another's home.

Thank you,  Leslie Neumann for this challenge!

Artists' Challenge, Day Two, Southern Gothic

On day two of my challenge, I share three of my works from New Lit Salon Press' publication, Southern Gothic: New Tales of the South.  I was honored to be asked to create original art to each of the stories and poems included in this book.  The experience was valuable and affirming for me; the challenge of working within a theme, or in this case, a story, left me with pride and joy.

You may read my thoughts and purchase each of these works by clicking here.  If you would like to purchase Southern Gothic, to enjoy on your digital reading device, you will find it here at New Lit Salon Press.

The Four Elements

nathanmarkphillipsairA.jpg

My latest series, “The Four Elements,” explores the basic components of life and psyche.  Throughout the history of humankind, the elements of earth, water, air and fire are personified in various mythologies and are central to the theology of all religions.  As stated, these four elements are "believed to reflect the simplest essential parts and principles of which anything can consist or upon which the constitution and fundamental powers of everything are based" (Wikipedia)

Duck Pond, New Port Richey Gallery Showing

I am a proud member of my local gallery, the Downtown New Port Richey Art Gallery.  In the photograph above you can see my work,  "Duck Pond," which captures the beauty and innocense of a Florida undisturbed by humans intervention.  This work was also one of the many digital collages I created for the short stories and poems included in the New Lit Salon Press publication of "Southern Gothic: New Tales of the South."

The above framed print is available for purchase from the Gallery this month. Feel free to contact me at info@nathanmarkphillips.com if you are intersted in purchasing this print.
